What do I wear for my Session?

What to wear to an engagement session?

Really, the main advice I give to get more out of your engagement session is to have fun with it! Don’t settle for the matching jeans and tops look. Get your make-up and hair professionally done, and bring a couple outfits with accessories. Realistically, we will only shoot two outfits in the time we have, but options are always good. Dressing up is always fun and accessories can really make a difference – whether it be jewelry, different shoes, scarves, or flowers for your hair .  Also, feel free to bring props! Nothing too overboard or anything, but if you serenade your sweetheart with a guitar every night, we could incorporate it in a few shots. Or if you consider yourselves a bit quirky or romantic or fun, you could bring a bunch of balloons, a kite, a vintage bicycle built for two - the skies the limit! I’m always thrilled when people infuse their personalities into the session!

What to wear to a portrait session?

Depending on what type of portrait session you are doing, my advice is always to dress your best. It really makes a difference in the images. Solids are timeless. You can bring several outfits and accessories, and we’ll go over everything before the shoot to find the best clothes to fit the location and the look you are going for. Also, feel free to bring props for your shoot that fit your personality - this helps in creating a more “lifestyle” feel to the images as well.

Beach Portraits
Solid Colors always look nice. Make sure the family coordinates.

For children’s portraits, definitely bring a few outfits and their favorite toys! Scarves, hats, tutus, and other accessories look especially cute and unique in images.

Most importantly, Be yourself and Have fun! :)
